Here’s a quick update of what the Wish Tower Friends have been up to in the first half of the year – it’s been busy!
Open Days
We’ve been delighted to welcome more than 2,000 visitors to the Wish Tower over the past few months – we held our first open day in the middle of March, and can’t wait to welcome more visitors throughout the year!

Thanks to the generosity of our visitors, we have already raised over £1,000 – vital funds which we will use to help keep the Tower safely open, so we can continue sharing our history with more locals and tourists alike.
One visitor left this lovely feedback:
The guides supervising the Tower were very knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly. I learned about Martello Towers at school in Australia and it was wonderful to actually see one for real!
New Volunteers
Two people who have played a big part in our Open Days so far this year are our brilliant new volunteers, Jon and Derek!
A huge thank you to both for volunteering to help look after a part of Eastbourne’s history.
Could you spare a few hours a month to help show visitors around the Tower? We’re always on the lookout for more eager volunteers to join us! Please get in touch if you’re interested.
School Trip
It was wonderful to welcome a class from nearby Stafford Junior School to the Wish Tower. We received a beautiful card the group made afterwards – have a look through the lovely messages.
Friends of Eastbourne Seafront
In April, we gave the The Friends of Eastbourne Seafront’s new 2025 Welcome Team members a tour of the Tower, to help familiarise themselves with the unique places along the seafront.
Funding News
We’re incredibly grateful to have been accepted into Eastbourne Borough Council’s Community Infrastructure Levy funding programme. This generous support will help us keep the Wish Tower safe and enjoyable for everyone to visit. We look forward to sharing more details soon!
More to come…
All this, and we’re only half way through the year – we can’t wait to welcome more of you to the Tower, and bring you more exciting updates!
If you see our flag flying – then we’re open, come on in!
You can also find out about our open days via our social media – Facebook, Bluesky (we’re no longer using X/Twitter), and Instagram.
Please don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions.
